VIP Preview screenings were held across the UK and Ireland, for International Women’s Day on the 8th of March, in partnership with World Vision (MY CABRINI HERO VIDEO) and will be on wide release from the 15th March.

Cabrini is a powerful and compelling true story. It is so beautifully shot that it drew me in from the very first frame and refused to let me go. Cabrini is brought to us by Angel Studios, who also brought us The Chosen and Sound of Freedom, produced in conjunction with World Mission. Pre-sale figures have already exceeded over a million dollars. In my opinion it certainly deserves to be a massive worldwide hit.

Set in 1889, the attention to period detail is astonishing, the film tells the true story of a very determined woman. Cristiana Dell’Anna plays Francis Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York determined to provide an orphanage and homes for the poor and downcast of the city. Despite having the approval of The Pope for her mission, she is initially met with hospitality, bigotry, racism and violence. Nevertheless, she remains determined to build a better world right in the heart of the growing metropolis.

Dell’Anna is terrific in the title role. Her performance sings of a kind, compassionate, caring woman who is determined to achieve her goal at all costs. This should have been an awards nominated performance. The strength of Cabrini’s faith is remarkable in the face of overwhelming odds.

Cabrini has some wonderful set pieces and scenes that move, shock, and horrify. We are vividly reminded that although this is set back in the 1800s, the needs of the poor and destitute as just as real today. Skilfully directed, there’s almost a photo-realistic quality to some scenes. Cabrini has a beautiful musical score and the story, which I didn’t know, is one that is certainly worth telling and it’s been told in a riveting way. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this wonderful, thought-provoking and compelling film.
